Goals

Sure, Baseball Extravaganza 2012 is taking shape like any of my past seasons. The planning, travel, and research are just as exhilarating, but, as the 2012 season begins, I have to ask myself, what exactly are my goals for this? Like any team that starts a season, goals are very important to enduring the passion and commitment during the long season. But what do I want to get out of this summer? What will I strive for?

Back in 2009, I made a goal to see fifty professional baseball games in one season. Pretty much seeing all the home Ems games and careful planning for baseball road trips allowed to meet and exceed that goal eventually seeing fifty-six total games. Since then, I haven't set a goal like that. Baseball Road Trips definitely were fun, but they sort of lacked that quintessential drive to succeed. With a new year and a new season, I am going to try to bring back this philosophy of doing something with an end result in mind. I want to have fun, sure. But let's up the ante on the road trips.

While I have made my goal for games, I'm going to set one for parks. I want to go to nine new ballparks this season. If I accomplish that, counting all the other Baseball Extravaganzas, I would have hit fifty separate ballparks. That is my goal and I am going to try my hardest to make it happen.

I'm going to be getting off to a good start next week out in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Baseball Road Trip seeing Coors Field in Denver and Security Services Field in Colorado Springs. Two new parks to kick off the season will definitely be a good way to try and achieve this goal.

I will make sure to post a detailed itinerary for the Rocky Mountain probably on Sunday.

Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
