The big day is finally here. Tomorrow morning I will be departing for the first Baseball Road Trip of 2012 to the state of Colorado. Let me take all of you through the planned itinerary for the next three days:
Early in the AM, I will be jumping onboard the Amtrak train to Portland where I will fly out in the afternoon. I am scheduled to get into Denver around 3:30 in the afternoon.
I am meeting a friend who will take us straight into downtown Denver and Coors Field. The Colorado Rockies are hosting the San Diego Padres in the first game of a three-game set between NL West foes. Jeremy Guthrie is slated to take the mound for the Rockies as the Padres will counter with Corey Luebke.
After the game, I plan on spending some time with my good friend in and around Denver.
On Tuesday, I will be meeting up with some family I have in Denver. I haven't seen them in a really long time, so I am very excited to see them and explore Denver with them during the day. We will go to the Rockies game that night where 48-year old Jamie Moyer is scheduled to pitch for the Rockies against Anthony Bass for the Padres.
Wednesday morning will see me board the FREX public transit bus in downtown Denver and travel about 45 miles south to the city of Colorado Springs. While there, I will meet up with some more family, and go to Security Service Field to see the Colorado Springs Sky Sox take on the Tucson Padres. These two teams are in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, so I will hit another park from that league.
After the game, I will drive back up to Denver and fly home. It is a short, but intense, trip that will involve lots of family, friends, and baseball. I am very excited to get some time for myself and see a new state and new sites.
Denver and Colorado Springs got some snow over the weekend, but the forecast is for sunny skies with temperatures in the sixties and seventies. I was worried about the threat of winter weather when I was initially planning this trip, but the forecast seems absolutely perfect baseball weather.
As always, I will be blogging from the road. I will also be updating Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare.
Always take on a 3-0 pitch ;)
